Fjords are very special parts of the sea. A fjord is long and narrow. It goes far into the land. There are very tall mountains or cliffs on both sides. But how do we get fjords? Long ago, big rivers of ice called glaciers moved slowly to the ocean. These glaciers were very heavy. They cut deep holes into the ground. When the ice melted, the sea filled the holes. This made a fjord. You can see beautiful fjords in New Zealand. Famous movies used these places because they look amazing. Norway has more fjords than any other country. There are more than one thousand fjords there! One fjord in Norway is very deep. The water is more than one kilometer deep. Many people visit fjords by boat to see the high mountains and the blue water. They are a wonderful part of our world.
